Dream Boxing: Sarah Bormann Unifies Titles in Hamburg

In the historic Wandsbek Sports Hall in Hamburg, where the legendary Klitschko brothers once began their professional boxing careers, Sarah Bormann has now earned her own place among the sport’s elite under the Dream Boxing banner.

The WBO minimumweight world champion (47.6 kg) captured her second major title by defeating Japan’s Yuko Kuroki, the reigning WBA champion, in a unification bout promoted by Dream Boxing. After ten intense rounds, two of the three judges saw the German fighter ahead (97–93, 96–95, 93–97). An emotional Bormann said afterward, “We executed everything perfectly. I’m just so happy. We prepared for three months and knew it would be a tough fight.”

Bormann relentlessly pushed forward while Kuroki countered and clinched throughout the contest. In round nine, an accidental head clash left Bormann with a 1.5 cm cut on the bridge of her nose, which required four stitches backstage — but nothing could stop her from claiming victory for Dream Boxing.

To prepare for the southpaw Kuroki, Bormann even brought in former opponent Isabel Rivero from Spain for sparring sessions, which proved invaluable. Outside the ring, the world champion still works full-time as a bakery saleswoman, saving up overtime hours to train for Dream Boxing fights. But after this success, bigger opportunities are on the horizon.

Meanwhile, the Dream Boxing night in Hamburg also brought drama in the heavyweight division. Local favorite Albon Pervizaj suffered a devastating knockout loss to Venezuela’s Luis Jose Marin Garcia in the tenth round. The shocking scene left fans in disbelief, sparking chaos around the ring before medics rushed to assist the unconscious fighter. Thankfully, Pervizaj later recovered and vowed to continue his career under the Dream Boxing promotion.
